It's short for 'Proof of Attendance Protocol', a special type of NFT given only to participants at an event, course, or activity. Essentially, it is a secure digital badge of honor or recognition for having been present.
Although the initial idea was just as a tool of digital recognition, POAP use cases now extend into building brand equity and rewarding and driving loyalty.
For example, guests from your events with specific combinations of POAPs can be rewarded automatically with a new NFT offering them a discount, or access to something new - the possibilities are growing all the time.
POAPs are still pretty new, but already some organisations you might have heard of are using them including: Adidas, Lollapalooza, the US Open and (our favourite) Christian Louboutin
